Street Art Revolution. Banksy e compagni: itinerari d’arte
Promoted by the Forte di Bard in collaboration with 24 ORE Cultura and curated by Patrizia Cattaneo Moresi, the exhibition Street Art Revolution. Banksy e compagni: itinerari d’arte offers a journey through the history and evolution of Street Art, exploring its innovative power, its ability to transform urban spaces, and its role as a contemporary artistic and social language.
Hosted in the Cannoniere Rooms of the Forte di Bard, the exhibition is divided into six sections that retrace the key stages in the birth and spread of urban art: from the early experiences of writing and New York graffiti, with pioneers such as Taki183 and Seen, to the artists who brought Street Art onto the international stage, including Banksy, Obey, and JR.
Through over 50 works, the exhibition brings together different generations, techniques, and artistic approaches, highlighting how Street Art has become a phenomenon capable of transcending the boundaries between public art and institutional art. The exhibition also explores the main European scenes, with a particular focus on French, Italian, and contemporary developments, showcasing the richness of a movement in constant transformation.
Among the most significant contributions, the exhibition features a site-specific intervention by Edoardo Ettorre, created directly on the walls of the exhibition space, confirming the open and experimental nature of a language that emerges through a dialogue with its surroundings.
The exhibition extends beyond the interior spaces of the Forte di Bard, involving the fortress’s outdoor areas and the territory of the Lower Aosta Valley through installations and new site-specific productions by Raul, the Truly Design collective, and artists Damiano Mengozzi and Madame. A widespread project that transforms the territory into a creative laboratory and an evolving artistic journey.
“Street Art Revolution” tells the story of a movement that, born on the streets, has grown into a global phenomenon, becoming one of the most representative languages of contemporary art: a space where past and present, image and message, public space and collective participation come together.
