The choice for this year’s set-up is the work of contemporary artists who hold on, in different and original ways, to the classical tradition, rereading it or instilling it in their current production. Fragments of the past that give shape to a new contemporary or drops of present that modify and renew the tradition.
This is what they do, RAVO, an Italian street artist who with the spray can reproduce masterpieces of the great masters of the last centuries, in a project to revive “classic” works in new contexts and for wider audiences, and OZMO, one of the pioneers of Italian Street Art, which refers directly to classicism but revisits it in a more contemporary light.
RAUL33 does so in a different way, which over old museum postcards and vintage photographs depicts his instinctive symbols, with a transfusion of vivid and colourful energy directly from the present to the time in black and white fixed forever on paper.
A game with time and tradition, which is also the fulcrum of LETIZIA CARIELLO‘s work, an Italian artist who in her artistic journey expresses a profound sense of the past in her most material form – through objects, things, memories – weaving a deep link, not only metaphorical, between her experience and the present of her works.
Reaching finally to the contemporary that becomes tradition: BASQUIAT, BANSKY, BLU, ERICAILCANE, are artists who, although still living and active, are already in the Gotha of Street Art and source of inspiration, already now “classic”, for the following generations.
