THE EXHIBITION

The exhibiton presents works on canvas and on paper by Andrea Ravo Mattoni, Swiss-Italian artist that had already collaborated with Artrust in the previous editions of Street Art. Known for his large murales made with spray that replicate the masterpieces of classical art and for his artistic project to “recover classicism in contemporary “, Ravo in 2018 has been awarded at the Arte Laguna Prize 2018 in Venice, collaborated with the Musée du Louvre and with ICART, realized a work on the legendary Mur Oberkampf and for the first time also in Canton Ticino, on the occasion of the Long Lake Festival in Lugano.
This exhibition represents his first solo show in Switzerland.

“My way of street art is strongly tied to my origins: Italy and Ticino have always been the cradle of painting in previous centuries, influencing and fascinating the whole Europe and still today the whole world. My art is a tribute to my origins, to my lands, and a strong recognition of what is at the base of our visual culture and the great painting of the past. I do want to continue this project strongly. My art is a message of re-culture, hope and above all of beauty “.

STREET ART WAYS

“Street Art Ways” is a series of exhibitions to deepen the work of some contemporary street artists who, tracing original and innovative personal paths, have created new directions of development for urban art.
After having offered our public with Street Art and Street Art 2 a broad overview of this movement from its origins to the present day – says Patrizia Cattaneo Moresi, Director of Artrust – we thought it would be useful to propose a more detailed story. We focused on some contemporary artists who stand out on the current scene for their reference to the tradition of the past and classical art ».

ANDREA RAVO MATTONI

Italian-Swiss, Andrea Mattoni was born in Varese on the 7th April 1981 in a family of artists. In 1995 he began his adventure as a writer with the name Ravo.

At the beginning of the 2000s he started the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, where he deepened his pictorial research, and at the same time the spray work, reporting what for years he has experimented on canvas directly on the wall.

His growing interest in classical art ended in 2016 in a project of “recovery of classicism in the contemporary”: the intent is to recreate great masterpieces of the past to spray on the wall, making them accessible to everyone, also creating a bond with the territory and with the museum institutions that conserve them.
