Albert Müller (1897-1926)
Painter, sculptor and graphic artist, he is considered one of the greatest exponents of German expressionism. Born in Basel, Müller attended art studies, starting a personal approach characterized by the use of a clear and bright palette.
Müller immersed himself into Basel’s artistic avant-garde, where he knew and were influenced by Moilliet, Munch and especially Kirchner, a key figure in his artistic development.
He moved later to Ticino, where started to realize watercolours, drawings, graphic works, sculptures and paintings representing landscapes and human figures, exploring the colour spectrum in the direction of brighter tones. In 1924, Müller joined the Rot-Blau group with Camenish and Scherer, linking his production to the movement and establishing himself in the international art scene.
