Waner
French artist Erwan Wire “Waner” approaches the universe of Graffiti and Urban Art in the early 1990s, when still a young student at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris. Influenced by Pollock’s dripping and action painting, by Werner Schneider’s calligraphic art and by Régis Loisel’s illustrations, Waner grabs all these sources of inspiration and mixes them using the graffiti expressions and forms. After graduation, his artistic career makes him travel around Europe in order to take part in various Street Art events. His activity embraces different supports in addition to walls and canvas. He mainly works with spontaneity, dynamism and energy, allowing the body to become an integral part of the artwork. In his works he tends to juxtapose the letters and graffiti. Sometimes the letters disappear and get replaced with abstract colour mosaics.
