The Puiforcat: a dynasty of silverware masters
In 1820, Émile and Joseph-Marie Puiforcat founded in Paris a factory that produces fine silverware. Today, after almost two centuries, the name Puiforcat is synonymous of excellence thanks to the work of generations of family that took innovation by creating masterpieces exhibited in major national and international museums.
Fortune and stylistic evolution of the brand
At the end of the XIX century Louis Victor Puiforcat lead the company to a top-level consumer, which included noble and royal European families: for this high-end clientele they realized pieces of silverware in Regency and Louis XV style.
The mark had an international success under the leadership of Jean Puiforcat, master silversmith since 1920. Jean lived in an era rich of cultural and artistic inspirations: the influence of this climate and the proximity of friends like Herbst and Le Corbusier, led him to create a revolutionary design language, a personal style similar to Art Deco characterized by purity and simplicity but also functionality of the lines. The creations of Jean Puiforcat, unique items in which silver harmonically combines with exotic woods and precious stones, became famous throughout the world, inspiring the largest collections of contemporary silverware.

This is the case of the Zermatt stainless cutlery designed by Patrick Jouin, which has been already included in the permanent collections of the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York.
