Art and Fashion meet at Palazzo Morando

Palazzo Morando, known as the Museum of Milan, was donated to the City of Milan in 1945 by the Countess Lydia Caprara Morando.
In addition to the residence, the legacy includes many beautiful pieces of Chinese and Japanese art, several paintings and drawings by Italian authors. Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Luigi Beretta, there is also a rich collection of works dedicated to Milan, which represent renowned places as the Duomo, the navigli (famous and characteristic canals area of the city), the churches.
In the room dedicated to Napoleon, there is a model of the Foro Bonaparte by the architect Giovanni Antolini, who was able, flattering Napoleon, to save the Castello Sforzesco from destruction.

Palazzo Morando recently became the Museum of Fashion and Costume and, along with various exhibitions on the subject, it also exhibits vintage clothing.

Until September 28, 2014 Palazzo Morando – Costume Moda Immagine hosts the exhibition: “La Collezione Claudia Gian Ferrari dialoga con i progetti degli studenti NABA” / “The Claudia Gian Ferrari Collection in dialogue with projects by NABA academy students”

Claudia Gian Ferrari (1945/2010), gallerist, art dealer and art historian, left all her collections in various Italian museums and to Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan.

She donated to Palazzo Morando more than 200 pieces of clothes and accessories, many of them by Issey Miyake, Japanese designer beloved by Mrs. Claudia.
On the occasion of the exhibition, some Miyake’s creations and others by famous Italian designers have been selected: Armani, Valentino, Krizia, Curiel.
In the clothing and accessories on display, colors and shapes are immediately noticeable but above all, what stands out is the choice to dress in a unique, lively, cheerful and artistic way that identified Claudia Gianni Ferrari. Art was everywhere in her life.

No wonder the choice to show at Palazzo Morando, next to the items of Gian Ferrari Collection, some creations of international students of NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti di Milano).
Different cultures, tradition, creativity, innovation, all mingle to create new art!

The past, the present and the future.
Claudia Gian Ferrari definitely loved every period, in her passion for fashion, in her work, in making hers the poetry expressed in the paintings of the past, in living in the present as it was in her future.

In colors, fabrics, sculptures and paintings, in every form of art both from the past and the present, if we learn to look with clear and curious eyes, as were those of Claudia Gian Ferrari, we will discover a world full of emotions, we will learn that Art is real food for the mind, which nourishes our life!
